WHAT IS ORTHO K?

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is the most exciting vision correction technology available today.

There are only 4 ways to correct your vision. Eyeglasses, Contacts, Laser Surgery and Ortho-K.

Imagine being free from glasses and contacts without the risk of complications from an irreversible eye surgery. Today this is a reality with recent advancements in a corneal refractive technology called

Ortho-K.

Ortho-K corrects your vision by reshaping your corneas using tiny, custom made vision retainers worn on your eyes while you sleep. You wake up with crystal clear vision, being able to live an active lifestyle, swim, exercise, work and see without glasses or contacts.

Some unique benefits are enjoyed by MILLIONS of happy Ortho-K patients around the world.

If you'd like to find out more about Ortho-K including whether you are qualified for this technology, simply book a free consultation with our practitioners.

Myopia comes with some very inconvenient side effects. Thick glasses get in the way of many activities such as sport, fitness, water activities, working, learning, playing and even just being able to wear regular sunglasses.

Kids have an even harder time dealing with self-image concerns, eye contact or social interaction. Studies have shown that myopia can even make kids feel inferior and self-conscious. It doesn't have to be this way. Ortho-K is an exciting treatment for myopia, although it is not brand new. Imagine being able to live free from glasses or contacts, without the risk and cost of laser eye surgery. Ortho-k treatment is painless and non-invasive. You simply wear custom made vision retainer while you sleep. You wake up with clear vision and enjoy the freedom to live without glasses! Added bonus: Ortho-k protects children's eyes from disease by slowing down the progression of myopia.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Ortho-k lenses work by gently correcting the shape and curvature of your eyes, giving you clear vision. A gentle hydraulic force is created by a series of grooves, angles and curves in the retainer that floats on a liquid film over your eye while you sleep. The lens gently molds and reshapes the eye surface, giving you sharp vision.

If you or your child would like to be able to live without glasses, please book a free consultation with us to determine if you are a candidate for Ortho-k. We will assess your vision and answer any questions you have.

"Great experience. Very friendly and informative, answered all my questions. Best of all I'm writing this review without glasses. Thank you Orbit Team."

"I got Ortho-k done a year ago at Orbit and I am so gladI did. I just wish I would have known about it sooner. The service was amazing."

"I can't believe how comfortable they are. I don't think I'll go back to wearing glasses. I'm so thankful for Orbit and Jason. I'll definitely be going here for life!"

MYOPIA CONTROL

LIFE IS BETTER WITHOUT MYOPIA

Children age 8-18 receive special advantages from Orthokeratology treatment. Ortho-K can effectively slow down myopia progression and stop a child's vision from getting worse every year.

A better quality of life academically, socially and physically, while protecting them from serious eye disease and worse vision -- this is why we are so passionate about myopia control.

For most patients, Ortho-k is the preferred method to correct and control their myopia.

We successfully treat up to -10.00D and even higher. This range is far beyond what was previously possible. Some patients we treat were previously told they are not candidates for Ortho-k.

Now considered a major health concern, myopia (nearsightedness) has increased by 66% in the North America and continues to cause vision loss. Onset can begin as early as age 4, and early detection is the key to prevention and reduction of potentially serious complications later in life.

CASE STUDY

Crystal (age 13) was referred to us for myopia control treatment. Her myopia was -8.00 when she began her Ortho-k overnight lens therapy. In just a few days, her myopia was fully corrected and she was seeing 20/20 without glasses or contacts. Crystal is now protected from the rapid progression of myopia and is doing well.

SCLERAL LENSES

RESTORE LOST VISION

People with irregular corneas have distorted or blurry vision from a wide variety of conditions including keratoconus, astigmatism, corneal transplant or after laser surgery. Using scleral lens technology, we can fit these eyes with a liquid-filled lens that restores lost vision and cures dry eye by hydrating the corneal epithelium all day long. The result is the most comfortable, high definition vision of any lens in the world.

A contact lens so advanced, it can restore lost vision.

Imagine a lens so advanced it does all this...

Corrects your vision, even when glasses cannot. Hydrates your eyes with a liquid layer. So comfortable you don't feel it because it does not touch your eye surface (cornea). Can restore lost vision and even improve it by several lines on the eye chart. Cures dry eyes and other ocular surface diseases.

This lens actually does exist and it's called a Scleral lens.

It was named for the fact that it rests only on the outside edge of your sclera (the white of the eye) . The centre of the lens actually vaults over the cornea (centre of your eye). This thin layer is filled with pure saline, so it not only hydrates your eyes all day, but it also creates a perfect refractive medium for light to enter the eye.

The result is high definition vision with long term health and comfort like no other lens in the world.

Do you have irregular eyes or vision? Not a problem anymore with scleral lenses. At Orbit we specialize in fitting scleral contact lenses and we prescribe them on a daily basis for our patients. In fact, we are the #1 prescriber of scleral lenses by volume in the Windsor area.

The lenses are made of an ultra high oxygen material with a special surface treatment that makes them feel wet, even when dry!

Anyone who wants the best in vision clarity, long-term health and comfort should seriously consider custom made scleral lenses.

There is nothing that compares to them. If you've had trouble wearing contacts for any reason in the past — or you've been told you are not a good candidate for contacts because of a medical or surgical eye condition — scleral lenses may be the solution you are looking for.

As the #1 provider of this lens in Canada, no one helps more patients enjoy clear vision at all distances without the need for glasses than Orbit Contact Lens.

MULTIFOCAL CONTACT LENSES

One of the most common choices to correct vision are the progressive and multifocal eyeglasses that have been around since the late 1950s. They promise clear vision at all distances, however there are serious side effects and limitations to these lenses. Furthermore, early designs of multifocal contact lenses were difficult to adapt to and had low success rates. For the millions of multifocal wearers this meant having to give up contact lenses until there was a better option.

Thankfully in 2019 there were huge breakthroughs in multifocal contact lens technology after many years of research and development. One example is the Ultra Multifocal for Astigmatism produced by Bausch & Lomb. This lens opened the door for millions of eyeglass wearers who wanted to switch to contact lenses.

This multi-zone progressive design provides crisp vision at all distances and is especially effective for patients who have astigmatism, use digital devices and drive at night. If you're tired of wearing progressive, bifocal, trifocal or multifocal glasses... tired of the distortion, waves, small reading zones, heavy lenses that fog up, get scratched, cause glare, headaches and other problems... ... then you may want to consider trying a pair of these life-changing contact lenses at Orbit.
