KERATOCONUS

If you've been diagnosed with Keratoconus, you may have noticed that eyeglasses don't work for you as well as they should. That's because the distortion in your vision can't be corrected with regular lenses. To restore your vision, you must correct the distortion. That's done using custom Scleral Lenses. These lenses are liquid-filled so they float on the eyes and are the most comfortable type of lenses available for anyone with Keratoconus.

Most patients experience dramatic or even 100% return of their normal vision after being fitted for Scleral Lenses. You can return to driving, studying or working right after getting your lenses.

CORNEAL TRANSPLANT

If you’ve undergone a corneal transplant, you may notice that even after surgery your vision is still not as clear or stable as expected. While a transplant can restore the health of the eye, it often leaves the cornea with an irregular shape that glasses or standard contact lenses cannot fully correct.

This irregularity can cause blurred vision, glare, ghosting, or fluctuating clarity throughout the day. Because traditional lenses sit directly on the cornea, they often fail to provide comfortable or consistent vision after transplant surgery.

Custom scleral lenses are specifically designed for post-transplant eyes. These lenses vault over the sensitive corneal surface and rest gently on the white part of the eye, creating a smooth optical surface while protecting the graft. A liquid reservoir beneath the lens helps improve comfort while providing stable, high-quality vision.

Many corneal transplant patients experience dramatic improvement in both vision and comfort after being fitted with scleral lenses, allowing them to return to driving, reading, working, and daily activities with confidence.

PELLUCID MARGINAL DEGENERATION (PMD)

SCLERAL LENSES – If you’ve been diagnosed with Pellucid Marginal Degeneration (PMD), you may find that your vision remains blurred or distorted even with updated glasses or regular contact lenses. PMD causes thinning of the lower portion of the cornea, leading to significant irregular astigmatism that standard vision correction often cannot fully address.

Because the corneal surface becomes uneven, traditional lenses may provide inconsistent vision or feel uncomfortable throughout the day.

Custom scleral lenses are designed to vault over the irregular cornea and create a smooth optical surface, allowing light to focus properly again. The lens rests on the white part of the eye rather than the sensitive cornea, providing improved comfort and stable, clearer vision.

Many patients with PMD achieve significantly sharper vision and all-day comfort with scleral lenses, helping them return to normal daily activities with greater confidence.

LASIK COMPLICATIONS

While LASIK surgery successfully reduces dependence on glasses for many patients, some individuals experience ongoing vision problems afterward. Symptoms such as glare, halos, fluctuating vision, dryness, or blurred vision can occur when the corneal surface heals unevenly or develops irregularity.

Because these changes affect the shape of the cornea, glasses and standard contact lenses may no longer provide clear or comfortable vision.

Custom scleral lenses vault over the altered corneal surface and create a smooth optical layer, often restoring stable, high-quality vision while improving comfort. Many patients with post-LASIK complications experience significant improvement, allowing them to return to daily activities with clearer and more consistent vision.

SJOGREN'S SYNDROME

Patients with Sjögren’s Syndrome often experience severe dry eye symptoms caused by reduced tear production. This can lead to burning, irritation, light sensitivity, blurred vision, and discomfort that may persist despite using artificial tears or medications.

When the surface of the eye becomes chronically dry, glasses and traditional contact lenses often fail to provide lasting comfort or stable vision.

Custom scleral lenses create a protective fluid reservoir over the surface of the eye, keeping it continuously hydrated throughout the day. By shielding the cornea from dryness and irritation, scleral lenses can significantly improve comfort while providing clear, consistent vision.

Many patients with Sjögren’s Syndrome experience substantial relief from dry eye symptoms and are able to return to daily activities with improved comfort and visual stability.

SEVERE DRY EYES

If you suffer from severe dry eye, you may already have tried multiple treatments such as artificial tears, prescription eye drops, warm compresses, or procedures like IPL — yet still experience burning, irritation, light sensitivity, or fluctuating vision.

In many cases, dry eye symptoms persist because the underlying condition cannot be fully corrected. While treatments may improve tear function, they do not always eliminate discomfort completely.

Scleral lenses offer a different approach. Rather than attempting to fix the underlying cause, these custom lenses work by neutralizing the symptoms. The lens vaults over the surface of the eye and maintains a continuous reservoir of fluid, protecting the cornea from dryness and environmental exposure throughout the day.

Even when other treatments have failed, many patients experience immediate relief, improved comfort, and stable vision with scleral lenses — allowing them to return to daily activities without constant irritation or pain.

SEVERE ASTIGMATISM

Patients with severe astigmatism often find that vision remains blurred or unstable even with updated glasses or standard contact lenses. When the curvature of the cornea is highly irregular, traditional vision correction may not fully sharpen vision or provide consistent clarity throughout the day.

Soft contact lenses can rotate or shift on the eye, while glasses may leave residual distortion, ghosting, or shadowed vision.

Custom scleral lenses vault over the cornea and create a smooth, stable optical surface, allowing light to focus properly for clearer and more consistent vision. Because the lens rests on the white part of the eye rather than the sensitive cornea, many patients also experience improved comfort and stability.

For individuals with severe astigmatism, scleral lenses can provide sharper vision and reliable all-day performance when other correction methods are no longer sufficient.

KERATOCONUS - Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease where the normally dome-shaped cornea thins and bulges into an irregular cone, distorting vision by scattering light, leading to blurry vision, halos, glare, and light sensitivity, often starting in the teens or early 20s and worsening over 10-20 years, with causes not fully understood but linked to genetics, allergies, and eye rubbing. Vision loss from Keratoconus can be fully restored with Scleral Lenses.
